: Hi all,

: today I've got two minor questions I would like to run past you...

: 1) Getting ready to order some boatbuilding stuff from
: www.jamestowndistributors.com . I want to put bronze eyestraps on my kayak
: deck, similar to Rob Mack´s Firestar on his site. What size eyestraps
: should I order (is the "size" defined by the opening for the
: rope ?)

Yes ,Pick a size that will work with the rope or bungie.

: 2) Finished sanding the hull of my Endeavour kayak today. According to
: Kayakcraft, I should now glass the hull (outside only) and then turn it
: right side up and strip the deck. Then glass the deck exterior and move on
: to the insides. Unfortunately, the deck will probably be pretty slow going
: (too much work on the day job). How long can I give myself with the hull
: sealed only on one side ? Or maybe I should paint some temporary seal coat
: on the inside, without braking the forms out, Latex maybe ???

Go ahead and glass the hull. Then carefully turn the hull over, set it on the cradles which are on the strongback and remove the mold extentions .

If the molds need a little help to stay put you could use hot glue , in a few spots.
If the hull stays on the forms you have lots of time to work on the deck.

I wouldn't do anything to the inside until you are ready to fair and glass it.

Regards Terry ( I don't like to let my day job get in the way of boat building Ho Ho)
