I sometimes wonder if that model could be totally re-worked to become a real racing sea kayak, damp ply bent onto a frame for the bottom panel with other panels making up the rest of the shape, unidirectional carbon ribs, paneled deck, Sealine rudder, kind of a LookshaII configuration with Vaclavs carbon coamings for knee up paddling or ply keyhole on recessed ply as desired. 3mm ply with 10oz glass and a tiny keel strip on the interior would be sufficiently durable for a bottom panel. Given that ply can bend some why not take some of that bend and use it without forcing the bend where it doesn't work well or relying totally on multiple panels to reduce wetted area/edges. Of course for real racers buying used boats will be cheaper and more effecive so the possible market wouldn't be that great but the idea would be fun to try out.
