I have 91 Accord were the two yak are wider than the car so I used 1/2" 9 ply to make the cross pieces. I used angle two bolt the corners and the Kayaks sit at 35 degrees from horizontal. The rack sits on the rubber tracks that Honda uses on most of their cars.The fore and aft runners are scibed to fit and have pipe insulation on them. I did not attach the rack to the car but used lots of front and back lines to the car. The kayaks are 17' and the car is 12'. the lines have a positive angle on them. I also tie the kayaks to the rack. I have had it up to 70 mph net wind speed on the freeway with no movement.
