Don't know how the pros do it, but I just finished my lip on a Guillemot. It wasn't Nicks strip lip.... I formed one from a 1/2 x 3/4 blue styrofoam strip (another great suggestion he has), and hot glued it to the coaming. Fillets first, then I started the glass using 8" to 10" strips about 2" wide, overlapped to negotiate the tight curves, wrapped from the deck up under the lip. After that cured, I wrapped similar strips from the top down, around and under the lip. Sanded all the overlaps, then a second layer in reverse. When I glass the underside of the deck tomorrow, I'll wrap one more layer from underneath up the inside of the coaming and over the top. A bit messy, but one thing that worked was to paint on epoxy first, lay in the short strip so it stuck in place, and finish wetting out. So far it's good and solid, don't think there will be any problem.
