a couple of options:

1) Head over and borrow my heat gun.

2) Go slower and try to pull the entire boat into shape at the same time, thus distributing the stresses along the entire length of the boat. Put a rope aound the middle of the boat and pull that up and into shape. Loosely connect all stitches and then slowly draw them tight. Go 1/2 way the first day, tighten the stitches more the second day, and by the third day the wood should come together without further cracking.

and if that doesn't work, then spritz the wood with water and heat it with the heatgun until it bends easily.
