I´m using nordic spruce, Picea abies. The strips are 4,5 x 19mm C´n´B. For accent there is mahogany.
The stern part is built up from 2,5mm veneer. Glassed on the inside, not fully cured you can torture the veneer very hard. The problem was to mirror the first side to the second. After some tests and thinking it worked out. After torturing-session I put on glass on the outside, I think three layers and one more on the inside. The stern part came out very rigid. The transition to the deck could have been a little softer. Now she creates a couple of vortexes that sound like a little rapid in the spring. Thats when I´m paddling her and I´m a little to heavy. With a lighter paddler there is no such drag.
