In Response To: Skin-on-Frame: Converting S&G to SOF (Tom)
: Another note, which wood seems to bend the best for SOF kayaks? Can I use
: regular wood glue to scarf my joints or should I only use some sort of
: epoxy?
Ash tree bends better.
Epoxy glue is used because it can resist melting in water. The plywood stations
you would want to trim out should be picked in the outdoor or marine grades that show a dark layer of glue between wood laminations.
Ash stringers can be varnished just as stations.
