It's not so much that the bow was low volume,,it was,,but the lever at the back was so significant in driving it forward. After that occured I went home and turned it over just staring at the bottom, measuring the girth at the waterline at various distances from the cg and ends simply by reaching my hands around the ends. "dang, it almost looks like there's more boat above the waterline back in the stern measuring in about a foot from the end of the waterline than there is in the bow!" The thing that was kind of glaring about this is that the catalog described it as having a high volume bow with a photograph on angle from the bow giving the impression of a big bow. Anyway I enjoyed it immensely, configured a little rudder and used it in a race after taking a stroke clinic from an olympic racer,,,understand I'm NOT a racer so the character building experience of having a fellow in a Scupper Pro keep up with me for the first mile was humorous. 10 yrs previous I was 20lb lighter and racing bicycles so the writing was on the wall regarding what it would take to be able to actually race kayaks,,, ouch! my physical conditioning is worse than then but at least I know where to put the paddle now!
