Clever. What kind of foam is that and how thick did your seat end up being? I like the idea and hope to do it so that my legs don't fall asleep

: Okay, so my method doesn't give you a fiberglass seat, but I still love my
: custom seat, and it was pretty easy: 1)heat a piece of 1/8" plexiglas
: at (my source sez 150 centigrade)in the oven until it's pliable, 2)lay it
: on a block of regular upholstery foam, 3)lay a sheet of minicell or
: similar over it, 4) sit down and relax for a while 5)cut out the
: appropriate area of the plexi, 6) glue the minicell to it, 7)lay some
: plastic as a barrier in the kayak, 8)foam the bottom of the seat with
: 2-part foam (maybe the aerosol type would be okay- maybe too squishy),
: 9)slap the whole mess down on the plastic to support the plexi and conform
: to the kayak, 10)clean it up and velcro it down. Seven years later, I can
: still sit in the thing for hours, and my butt does just fine.
