: I'm getting ready to glass my Night Heron in an uninsulated woodshop in VT,
: heated by a woodstove. I glassed a stitch and glue a couple of winters ago
: in another woodshop that was kept at 50 degrees. I used System 3 with the
: fast hardener, and didn't heat the boat up, so put the room temp. epoxy on
: a cold boat, and ended up doing a lot more sanding than necessary. This
: time around, I'll probably put a couple of electric cube heaters under the
: boat, and get the ambient temperature up with the woodstove-hopefully to
: around 60 degrees. The temperature will probably be a bit uneven-warmer
: near the stove, etc. Any suggestions for an epoxy/hardener combination
: that might fit the bill?

: Thanks,
: Ann

Those temperatures are going to make the resin thick, and the ability of the resin to
displace the air in the glass and wet-out the glass is not going to be good. The result
will not give you a good transparent glass appearance.

I'd suggest buying a three quart unit of System Three's Clear Coat epoxy which is a specialty
very thin wet-out resin. This should be enough to wet-out your hull and deck glass.

The Clear Coat will remain very thin at the temperatures you will be working at and do a good
job of wetting-out the glass. Then you can fill the cloth weave with the regular resin and you
should have a much more transparent final glass surface.

All the best,
