Quick question on a slightly different topic:
Can I mount a wooden handle (paddle shaft) to two euro carbon blades on the front side (face) of the blades, or does it have to connect on the back side?
These carbon blades were laid into a foam form (carved from pink builders foam) with not much thought as to how the shaft would connect. It was just one of those late night, spur of the moment things, when you get some wild haired, crazy idea to build something, so you just do it, then you stop to think about if it will really work or not types of things.
Each blade was also way overbuilt, I think. They are not as light as I imagined, but could be used for car ramps, if need be. They each have 4 layers of 5.7oz carbon, 1 layer 4oz carbon with 7 layers of 4oz eglass sandwiched between. Is this too much?
Summary: Two questions:
Can a wood handle be mounted to the face of the blades (see pic)?
How much glass/carbon is necessary without overdoing it?
Thanks for any insight, I appreciate it.
SMF
PS: I would definately not recommend using a mid-priced brush to apply System Three's LPU. Take the advice of others and use a foam pad or ?. I learned the hard way, next coat will be with a pad. The LPU had not been applied at the time of this pic.
