Last week I said I would post a picture of how I lock my kayak to the roof of my car. So here it is.

The cheek plates on the sides of the seat are epoxied to both the deck and the hull so one end of the cable can be looped around the cheek plate. The other end is inside the car with a lock attached just to add dimension to the end of the cable. The car door gasket is thick enough to squeeze around the cable. If I keep the doors locked I don’t feel the need to lock the inside end of the cable to the grab bar.

And yes I do strap the kayak to the rack; I did not want to clutter up the picture for this demonstration.
