I cut slots in boat to allow the strap to pass through. Used scrap strips 1 3/4" long, cut a slot in them and epoxied the strap into and behind the strip, and soaked the strip (do not glue to boat). Be sure and measure plenty of strap to glue in the strip then insert through the slot in boat, plus hold couple of bungies or rope, etc.

Epoxy the slot in boat, when all is cured silicone cement the strip around the strap to the hull/deck inside while putting tension on the strap till cured. Silicone should allow the straps to be removed in the future for repair/revarnish.
