I pretty much followed Nick's guidance. Roll it loose, dunk it in resin. While it was soaking, I used a paintbrush taped to the end of a 6 foot 1x1 to spread some resin on the seam. I then ran the 2" tape to the bow, then to the stern. I smoothed it out with the paintbrush soaked with a bit of resin. I then repeated things with the 1" tape. One other thing I found that made a lot of difference was to put a couple of lights inside (a "snake light" poking through the front hatch looking forward and an incandescent work light poking through the rear hatch looking back). It was really helpful to be able to see the ends clearly. The picture is of the setup I used.
