In Response To: Epoxy: epoxy/glass/carbon coamings and heat (LeeG)
: reading through the last threads on epoxy/carbon coamings a couple guys
: mention them softening in the heat. Is this common?,,would other epoxies
: be better for the application or using white fill coats, or vinylester
: resins? I know that obviates the cool carbon finish but if you can't
: afford the exposure that sounds like a problem.
I haven't found this to be a problem with my carbon and Raka epoxy coaming. The kayak has been on the roof of a car in direct sun in 95+* temps all day with no softening that I detected.
