I've been using the Elmer's poly glue on coamings, gunwale wedges (SOF boats) and paddles, and haven't had any problems. FWIW, I just follow the directions - moisten one side of the joint spread it on thin and clamp it tightly. I haven't tried the others, so I have no basis for comparison. If you think they're better, I'll try a different brand once this bottle runs out.

One question: I've heard/read that poly glues have to be used quickly after opening or they tend to set up in the bottle. I haven't found this to be a problem at all with Elmer's and my bottle has been open for over a year. Are the other glues more sensitive to this, or is the warning just nonsense?
