Brian,

The paddle is made as a one piece, then cut off in the center. The oval
shaft is then rounded near the center to accept a fiberglass paddle shaft
section. A small piece of plastic tape keeps the shaft from rotating.
The LINK below shows one done this way. I've used this type breakdown
for years and they have held up fine.

The paddle is an Aleut design with flat power face, but without the rib.
Normally, I use a clear finish, but this one is "plum" to match my wife's
Feathercraft.

Thanks. No plans for a book at this time. I just can't sit still long enough
to do it.
