I added a little extra to the depth of the stern stem in the hope that it would prevent the yak from being "too" responsive. If I decide that I don't need (or want) it, I should be a simple matter to plane/sand it down and reseal.

I got the idea from some of Dale Frolander's "archived" posts, but I decided that I'd just taper the aft end and blend it back in at the tip rather than a more blunt transition back to the stem piece. This way its not so obvious that she has a fin at all! From the way it sounds in one of Dale's posts, it doesn't take much to do the job.

However, I'm not convinced that this idea would compensate for the wide varity of conditions that you encounter in the islands.
