Hi Terry. These are my thoughts on it. It's mainly just a matter of preference. There are [bound to be] CAD programs for the Mac and downloadable printer drivers for your plotter. I use a PC at work and a Mac at home and, given the correct software/configuration, either will pretty much do the same thing. That said, any computer can be a hassle to configure and I never upgrade until I absolutely have to.
My preference is to draw plans the old way... mainly because I'm not in any hurry and like to keep the tools simple. Plus using a computer doesn't guarantee better results. But hey, try it out just for fun... you can always throw the plotter away if it doesn't work out Check that your Mac can handle the printer's style port (SCSI, parallel, USB, firewire...) without an expensive adapter.
