I asked the same question about two months ago on this, and one other forum. The answers I received, both on the boards and through private email, convinced me not to attempt it mostly due to adherence, or bonding, issues. I ended up not using any paint at all on my project.
But had I persisted in my desire for the under-glass stripe, the only thing left to do was make a few sample pieces and test them. In other words, as far as I was ever able to learn, no one has really tried it.
If you decide to try it, please let us know what happens.
