How thin a verneer? and....... where do you get veneers? (I guess I should simply do a google search before asking!)
Great idea though. I think a test piece is in order

: Perhaps you should consider buying thin wood veneer. You can cut the stuff
: out to any pattern you want and epoxy it under the glass. It seems to be
: easy to use and it will look like you did an inlay. The cost is not high
: and it will last as long as your boat without fading. I've seen pictures
: of some beautiful boats done that way and your pattern sounds like it
: lends itself to the technique.
