I have used a few different types and weights of glass from RAKA and like it a lot. I have some of the 5 oz, but haven't used it yet. I plan on using it on the inside of the hull on the kayak I'm currently working on.

: Jay

: All Due Respect to you, but I don't think this is an accurate statement. I
: and many people have used other weights of cloth from RAKA and had
: absolutely NO problems. I use their 3.25oz tight ( satin ) weave with
: great results.
: Your statement sounds all-inclusive and the 5oz. cloth is the ONLY
: cloth I've ever seen given bad reports. However, before Larry started
: selling this "special" 5oz. cloth I did hear of other suppliers
: that had some problems, which it turned out were due to properties of the
: cloth that made it more Polyester friendly. That may, as you say, be what
: is the problem with this 5oz. cloth, but I don't think you should condemn
: RAKA's entire line of cloth because of problems with one particular
: weight.

: That may not have been your intent, and if not, I appologise, but that is the
: impression I have gotten.

: I may be out in left field here, but it just sounded sorta all-inclusive and
: that has not been shown to be true. I think RAKA just stumbled into some
: 5oz cloth that doesn't work especially well with epoxy products.
: I've had no problem with his 6oz, 4oz., 3.25oz satin ( tight ) weave or the
: 1.5oz cloth that I use for smaller projects. The 3.25oz is a bit slower to
: wet out, but I knew that going in and it still works just fine with their
: thinner epoxies, especially the slower hardeners ( for us
: non-professionals ).

: Just a point of clarification....
