: I'm curious: What metering method(s) do you use to measure epoxy? I still use
: the pumps which do burp at times.
I use to do the "pump and pray" method until my pumps started burping on a regular basis. I then switched to the measured beer cups method where you mark an outer cup with 2:1 ratio and then put a cup inside to add resin and hardener.
For this boat I have also incorporated several mustard squeeze bottles with syringes. These were discussed in previous posts. Their key benefit is in mixing smaller batches. I have small syringes for micro batches and a set of fairly large ones that will do a full 1oz at a time (almost as much as a pump). The only danger with the syringes is mixing up a hardener with a resin syringe. I mark them well!
So now I do the following
Large Batches – Beer Cups
Medium Batches - mustard bottles with large syringes
Small Batches – mustard bottles with small syringes.
All of this came after mixing a batch that never kicked. Believe me after scrubing off that goo with acetone you get real carefull about mixing ratios
Regards,
Jack
