Has anyone done home made footrests that pivot to operate a rudder. I like the feel of fixed footrests but want a rudder on my racing kayak. The sealine footrests and rudder look nice but the price is just too much to justify.

I was thinking about something like Nick's design with a hinge but wanted to see if anyone else had attempted this?

Also anyone seen or used the Kojak footrests? (see link below)
