I've used the Kajaksport wood footpedals. I used a standard yakima footpeg and mounted the Kajaksport pedals on them. The pedals came with rubber joints that work as the hinge. The system works well. I don't have much throw on my Feathercraft rudder but, I don't need much (this is on my Razor Billed Auk). I already had the standard feathercraft sliding track steering system mounted, so I removed the track and directly mounted the adjustable peg.
I ended up having to reduce the height of the pedals as provided because the original location of the sliding track was high enough that the new pedals would not fit. If you get and mount the pedals before you drill the installation holes for the footpegs, you should be able to fit them unmodified.
: Has anyone done home made footrests that pivot to operate a rudder. I like
: the feel of fixed footrests but want a rudder on my racing kayak. The
: sealine footrests and rudder look nice but the price is just too much to
: justify.
: I was thinking about something like Nick's design with a hinge but wanted to
: see if anyone else had attempted this?
: Also anyone seen or used the Kojak footrests? (see link below)
