I like the idea of carving some dolphins. Maybe zebra wood to enhance the 3-d effect? Actually I was thinking the angel would go great on a yak.

My grandfather did wood carving along with his boatbuilding. He used cherry. I don't know if it was for the workability, or he just liked it. I have a block of Cuban Mahogany that was in his wood bin when he passed away, and I have been saving it for something really specail. I would like to carve something for the kayak, but I don't know just what.
