Have to go back to Zimmerly's book to double check. The original on which this was based, I think, was used to retrieve a seal that had been already shot, from shore? The original is called a "retrieval kayak" (or little "fat kayak"). This has sharper shaped ends and a more rounded multichine hull. Morris changed his to have rounded ends, three chines on each side, a flatter hull that would be more conducive to "play" in waves.
I am actually more interested in the "retrieval" but would love hear how this one paddles as well before committing to making one.
