I'm a first time strip builder and I finally finished out the hull on my little project. Without Nick's book and the additional guidance I've gleaned from this board I'm sure I wouldn't have gotten this far. Thanks all!
I had to order the wood 'sight unseen' because WRC is mostly unavailable in Orlando. The boards that came in were pretty varied in color and grain with a couple of boards looking dark brown with tight grain. I thought that would look pretty bland compared to what I've seen here on this message board so I decided to use those on the bottom and save the prettier stuff for the deck. I was so wrong! What I though would look bland is very colorful with lots of variation along the length of the boards. I couldn't be happier with how the bottom looks so far. After fairing and sanding half the boat I can't wait to get epoxy on it. I should be on to the deck by next week.
BTW- I'm using a stapleless construction method.
