I just happened to check out the Feathercraft Khats Owner's Manual. Now I can picture exactly what you're saying--sounds like a great idea....I think I might have to do that. Thanks.
I think the Khats uses the cockpit rim somewhat structurally for bracing....I may have to figure a way to brace around the coaming, as I'd like to actually sew my coaming to the skin...actually thinking of a laminated wood/epoxy coaming....if you don't look inside, I want this yak to look very traditional.
