I too have a favorite brand. I have tried a lot also and like Norton (Home Depot) (5) 60 grit discs $2.49 in CT. I avoid 3M. It never holds up like the Norton (gold) Although 3M has a newer green disc out.
I once had a discussion with the DeWalt rep who told me that the 8 hole sanders were better because the accumulation of particles is the major cause of clogs. It grinds together and creates heat.
