If the flagpole is made of metal, it could be bent at three points to get a triangular base that could be lighter than a wood plank.
The wire base could also be croached into D rings.

: Bad news in the Virgin Islands. Another kayaker has been killed by a
: speedboat. I don't have the details on this one. That makes two this year,
: and five in the past two years. One recent incident involved two kayakers
: in separate singles paddling together fairly near shore. I am definately
: putting a flag on my yak, much like a buggy whip antenna. I'm just going
: to mount it to a board that will slip under my deck lines. This has been a
: plan of mine for a while, but now I think I'll move forward with it. Any
: other ideas are welcome. Of course there may be problems with rolling with
: this assembly, but we will soon see. I would like to know what any of you
: have come up with.
