Reg,

I coulda taken better notes in your skirt seminar at R2K2...
What was the timing protocol you use for the applications of the neoprene glue in the gluing process? I have been wondering ever since then how close I am to remembering it right. Actually, I'm not too worried about because my projects seem to be holding up well, but I thought I'd ask anyway as this question does come to mind everytime I glue up something new.

Thanks,
-John D.

: To answer some of the questions. Homemade skirts hold together fine and do
: not need sewing. The trick is to overlap and glue. The only butt seam is
: at the back of the tunnel and that too can be overlapped. I prefer seam
: tape or aquasealing it. The way I make the skirts is a variation on the
: information on the johnrsweet site.

: I prefer a thin neoprene with nylon two sides. You can vary the shock cord
: diameter to match the void in the coaming. Shock cord varies a lot in
: percentage of stretch but you can find 3/16", 1/4", or larger
: with sufficient tension to make a good seal. The seal is not as positive
: as the rand skirts but hey it's a wet sport.

: The skirt I made at R2K2 has over 225 miles on it and is holding up quite
: well. I left it in Chile for next season, so I will be making another for
: the King soon. When I do make the next skirt I will get some photos and
: put together a how-to sheet for R2K3. Algo mas preguntas. Oh one more
: thing. Use the black neoprene cement sold at dive shops and give the can a
: shake before you buy it to make sure it is liquid and not partially set
: up. It is a toulene base so take all the precautions.
