: One question about the foot
: operated teeter. How is it mounted to remain in a solid position which
: allows one to teeter it with the foot?
Hi srchr/gerald, Shawn. It's a work-in-progress but it will mount into a wooden socket on the floor of the hull and a second socket under the deck. This picture of the old pump shows more how the final setup will be. It is the first pump set up for testing (minus top/bottom sockets).
Off the shelf parts would make fabrication much easier. This is not a bad way to go though. It's Black Walnut (which is extremely tough) joined together with mortice/tenon construction, filleted and then glassed. Failure can happen though (and this ties into Shawn's point below) and I will probably continue to carry a handpump.
The footpump will be handy for roll practice this spring. I can't stand the humiliation of having to wet exit and then pump the cockpit out by hand
