If you look at Mason's films and biography, it is clear it was not just words, it was the way he lived. I think he was a bit over the top on his choice of tents and he doesn't mention he had a collection of about 20 canoes in addition the the Prospector (only slightly more obsessed than some people I know)but still inspirational in a lot of ways.
