I like the KayakFoundry. It takes a little getting use to, very intuitive. Since I've always built boats lofting from my mind using board, batten and eye to fair it was kind of easy to use the KayakFoundry, because it works in a similar manner. Changing lengths was a little hassle, but after playing around with the program it gets easier. I think Ross may be working on an easier way to change lengths. The program is much more powerful, or manipulative, than one might think. I've discovered that I can design a wine glass stern kayak...which is a future project. I believe the stations outlined in red indicate something that the program doesn't like, or won't work. I'm not describing that right, but it is mentioned on the KayakFoundry message board. If you'll go to that board and scroll through the messages you'll get lots of good information. You can achieve more flare and you can make a fairly flat deck. The deck on my boat behind the cockpit is fairly flat. I just started out with kind of what I wanted on the plans, and kept improving over several days. Now...after working on the actual hull...I see a couple of changes to make, but I'm still very happy with the results.
