: I measured and laid out all of my rib and deck beam locations last night. I
: found that in a couple of instances the rib and the deck beams lined up
: where the rib mortise is directly under the deck beam. Morris says that
: this should be avoided although Starr and Cunningham don't mention it.
: Should I maneuver the beck beams so that they aren’t over the ribs? Should
: I play with the rib spacing?

Also, if you are tying the deck-beams in place, as per Mark Starr's method, you will have to have enough room to drill for your twine and still miss the rib mortices. I had a couple of Deck-beam mortices that barely missed the Rib mortices and then had to extend the twine a ways past them also. That's not a serious problem if you are tying and pulling the twine together for added tension.
