I did mine as in the detail with a elipse rather than radius curves.Flat curve on top with a tighter radius on the bottom. I had a 6' wave strip the deck clean and not the neo skirt. The only advantage a wider skirt may have I see is when do a t-rescue with the kayak on top of your skirt. I have had to yet drag a kayak yet do to good contions so far. I got a free thick WW skirt and it seems to protect the Kayak.
