: Hallo!
: Yeah, so, ok, I messed up a little on my Cormorant. My deadrise is 2"
: instead of 1 1/2". This makes her a bit tippy... What can I do about
: it now?

Charles,

Nice work on the kayak. I got into the Cormorant site for the first time
and must admit it's a pretty cool design. I don't feel that the extra 1/2" of
deadrise is going to make much difference. It would still appear to be under
15 degrees deadrise, which is still less than any of my boats. It appears to
have little rocker, so that could make it a bit tippier.

If this boat is tippy at 2", I believe you would have found it nearly as tippy
at 1.5". So, relax in the boat, sit low, get in lots of time on the water.
Remember, you can learn to make a tippy kayak perform, but a fat, stable
kayak will "always" be just a fat stable kayak.

Deadrise and tippy are relative terms. Check out the attached pic. Here is
a 17.5" wide kayak with 4.6" ( 32 deg) of deadrise with 13" chine separation.
Paddle this for a while, and your Cormorant will feel like a barge.

Or, As Mick Dundee once said when confronted with a knife wielding
bandit, "That's not a knife mate, here's a knife".
