: I just finished an Arctic Tern 14. I love the boat, but my size 11 feet are a
: bit if a squeeze. My sons (10 & 13) would like to share the boat while
: I make a new one.
: OK - question - will the extra inch in depth in the Coho, or Tern 17 be
: enough for my feet or do I need to go to the Tern High to get 2 1/2 inches
: more?
: On the Tern vs. the Coho, I love the Tern 14 but would like to try the Coho
: to have a faster boat and a multi-chine to go with the Tern. It is kind of
: nice to have variety.
: I have to enter the Kayak from a fixed dock in tidal waters. The Tern is
: stable enough to make that fun but possible. Will the Coho make this wet
: and impossible?
: Maybe even the Osprey?
I am 6'1",have 11's and the standard Artic Tern we have seems to have more room than our Guillemot. If you love the 14 I'd say you will also love the 17. My son pefers the Tern so I paddle Nick's great design. He is the same size with longer legs. He had to pad the knee hooks to fit his legs. The deck was too high.
I have not paddled the others but they're all great Kayaks, different tastes. We dock enter with lots of tidal action and you get in fine with practice, we have not got wet yet.
