Exactly what I'm looking for

: System 3 "Epoxy Book" described a method to mix epoxy with
: insufficient hardener and allow it curing time. This would cause mixture
: to thicken but not set. When you were ready to apply and let it fully cure
: you would add the correct proportion of hardener required to get a full
: cure. I don't think it extends working time but lets you have thicker mix
: that will cure clear. Didn't find useful ways to use it, I'd rather put
: more coats on to fill weave. I think you can down load their manual from
: the S3 website.

That's the thing I'm looking for - increased viscosity rather than more working time. Or to put it another way, more time spent in the viscosity range I like. I saw that in the book, and Vaclav's site mentions it, but both are a little vague, so I was hoping somebody had a positive experience to report. I get plane surfaces to fill in two coats, but chine edges seem to take another couple of coats to get filled. The thicker stuff late in a batch did great. I'm hoping for thicker from the start, but a similar to normal pot life. I've sent sys3 an email for info, and will try a test in the next couple of days. Maybe there is no free lunch, but who wouldn't skip a coat if they could?

Then again, maybe I'm trying to overfill. Sanded an area that still showed a hint of weave, and got it smooth before I hit glass. OTOH, there are areas where I'm sure I'll hit glass first. Those I'll be going back over. Still needs more buildup around a the veneer work anyway.
