I've had good luck with using old golf carts. The last one I made I only had to add a cross rail of 1" square tubing and then I could use my foam bunks and straps from the roof rack to hold the kayak. The wheels are nice & wide and don't sink into sand. And it fits in the rear hatch when it folds.
