I managed to get the yak repaired today. Total time for the repair was 15 minutes. The integrity of the old glass was poor so I used my dremmel to grind it and the damaged coating away. I ground a 2 inch border around the wound just to the surface of the remaining good glass. I wetted it all out, prepared a mix of woodflour/epoxy, filled the hole, then topped it off with 4 oz glass leaving a very smooth application that should be relatively easy to sand. The end result should be flush with the hull. I'll flip the yak over tomorrow and inject epoxy into the kevlar side of the damage to ensure a solid fill. Unfortunately, I tried to move the rebuild to make room for the yak repair. The attempt caused the hull patches to crack (not glassed yet) and break off. Sigh, some days it jsut isn't easy. At least I know it won't take long to get it all back together. I'll have to glass the hull before the trip to ensure it stays in one piece while I am gone (kids). I'll take some pics of todays repair for posting tomorrow. Happy Easter, everybody!
