Canoes (we don't know what jonboats are at this forum) made of aluminum are inferior to their wooden bretheren. They don't work well. They are much more difficult to build. They are HEAVY, NOISY and COLD. They went out of style with spade-toe shoes and DA haircuts. The only guy I knew who had one drove a Studebaker and washed out of the Hare Krishnas.
By the way, my plywood "Yare" weighed 30 lbs. before I put the deck hardware on. If you can beat that in aluminum send pictures.
