Don't you just love the Helpful Hardware Guys! Surprised he didn't try to sell you a drill press. I'm sure you told them what you were trying to drill, and any hardware employee that's worth a darn would have suggested the slower speed, oil, and goggles. That is unless you were dealing with one of the big outfits, but the local hardware store should know better. I always do the light switch test when I go into a local hardware store (the ones that say they're the experts with the personal touch, not like the big boys). You tell 'em you need a light switch and if they march you over to the $25 dimmer deluxe, you know you should probably shop elsewhere.
