Shawn, Do you find a strength advantage or ease of construction advantage to put the widest layer first and work up to the narrowest? I have usually put the narrowest down first and over lapped each successive layer leaving only one edge to feather on the last widest piece, but I never have tried it the other way.
I like your taping it all down idea as it sets. I have to go back and reseal mine on some of the curved areas as it cures.
