: I have very nearly finished the wet sanding of the complete outside of the
: hull and deck prior to varnishing. I have to say that was some of the most
: miserable work yet, though probably the highest overall payback.
: My question is this: I have read several posts that mention a post-sanding
: wash down with soap and water before varnishing. Does anyone have an
: opinion (dangerous question) on the best soap to use for the wash down?
: Also, how long should one wait for epoxy to cure prior to varnishing?
: Regards,
: Marcel
All you need to do is to wipe the surface with water and a
sponge to remove sanding residue.
You've just used an abrasive over the whole surface. There is no
need for soap and good reason to not to use it.
You have no idea what chemicals are in the soap and how they will
effect the epoxy varnish bond.
This advise assumes you did your wet sanding with water and not oil.
All the best,
