: I'm about ready to cut out the hatches on my Night Heron, and I'm thinking
: about not using a front hatch - I like the idea of an unbroken front deck
: and I don't see myself camping in this boat. My question - will the lack
: of a hole in the front make taping the inside seam a LOT harder or just
: marginally harder?
: As always,
: Thanks.

Hi Wes,
I just finished taping my seam on my Razorbilled Auk. I used Jay's method of hot gluing the tape to the hull (samll dabs every 10"). I screwed a cutoff brush on the end of a long 3/4" square stick I had laying around. With the boat on edge, and the stick already inside the boat, I dipped the brush in a cup of epoxy and tipped the wetted brush bristle up to stop epoxy from dripping, as I move the brush along the tape. This is the second boat i have used the hot glue method and it works great. just take your time and make sure all tape is wetted. I used a cutoff roller on a broom stick to press the tape tighter. I was able to get the tape within 3" of the ends on the RBA. On my Guillemot Exp, the tape was hard to see/reach because of the deck curve, so I had to stop about 8" from stems.
