Depends on which boat Im in. I dont use it much at all, if it fits below I stash it htere. If Im out in the rough, I usually keep it on deck. I dont paddle with it on, I just sheped it so if I did need to use it to get back in the boat - Id have to be exhausted by then - Id still be able to manuver before I took it off. I used it learning to roll, and I still take at along just in case...
