I've put unidirectional carbon under hatches but I bet a strip of wood with glass over it would work as well. It's the devils fiber. It is fundamentally different so any stresses that take the wood to it's limits will fracture at the carbon/wood interface. I'd say experiment and break test panels before using it. What application are you thinking of? Is it the coaming? that makes sense but so would glass so at that point it's one of those,,"I've got it and it will make it stiffer and it looks neat"
