Hi Alex, welcome to the KBBS. Failure is always a hazard but, in kayak building, it is usually something that can be fixed. You'll find that the kayak project is a reflection of other projects in your life: If you never finish your projects then you probably won't finish the kayak either, if you rush through things then you will rush through this too, if you have problems with motivation then this project will be no exception. On the other hand, building a kayak is the opportunity to do something extraordinary/possibly learing a different approach in the process. And, there is nothing like moving gracefully through the water in a handmade boat.
